The Vittoriale Event

Giordano Bruno Guerri

The road of motoring history for Sky, Earth, and Sea has passed and continues to pass through the “Vittoriale Degli Italiani”. In the first decade of the 1.900s, Gabriele d'Annunzio was a protagonist, thanks to the wonders of science, of "progressive human flights," which in the minds of men like him seemed to have no limits. Time proved them right. He was among the first to assert that the magnificence of the world had been enriched with a new beauty: the beauty of rapid mobility.

In 1909, d'Annunzio took flight in that extraordinary machine that, like a bird, soared freely over the plain of Montichiari. For the future, not only for automobiles, Gabriele d'Annunzio had a great passion. For him, all the new instruments of science and technology were sublime. His works of art in motion are now, in all their shining beauty, well-placed and displayed in the poet's museum-home. For this reason, we have responded to the invitation of the Organizing Committee of the World Motoring Week, offering our availability to share and collaborate in the success of the celebrations by hosting them at the Vittoriale Degli Italiani, in this unique destination of world history and beauty.

In 2024, on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, in this magnificent museum setting, there will be a grand Concours d'Elegance; around the exhibition of vehicles of excellence from Sky, Earth, and Sea, there will be a true celebration of beauty, the history of the science and technology of motoring. During those days, passionate collectors who love the pleasures of beauty, have a passion for the work of Man, for mechanical technology, and for those true works of art in motion will be summoned to the Vittoriale Degli Italiani.

This is an additional invitation, for all enthusiasts of historic motoring, to visit and discover a unique destination of great value and beauty: THE VITTORIALE DEGLI ITALIANI.

TAZIO NUVOLARI (1892-1953)

"These were the early years of racing the speed. Of that period, I remember nothing but all my days spent on the race tracks of those days."

On one hand, there is the WORLD DAY OF HISTORICAL MOTORING, symbolized by the figure of Tazio Nuvolari, which aims to promote a passion for historic vehicles while highlighting their ethical and cultural significance.

On the other hand, there is the FOUNDATION OF IL VITTORIALE DEGLI ITALIANI in Gardone Riviera, represented by the extraordinary figure of Gabriele d'Annunzio, the author of indelible pages in our history. Thanks to the remarkable mechanical means it showcases, it constitutes a primary hub for historic motoring.

Between these two institutions and the personalities they represent, there exists a cultural bridge rooted in a shared aspiration for speed and elegance, uniting the soldier-poet and the unrivaled racing champion.

It is upon this common foundation of speed and elegance that the initiative for the CONCORSO D'ELEGANZA, titled "D'ANNUNZIO AND NUVOLARI ARBITERS OF ELEGANCE," will take place in the gardens of Il Vittoriale degli Italiani on April 27 and 28, 2024.

The charming and picturesque slopes of Il Vittoriale will provide an extraordinary backdrop for the Concorso d'Eleganza, dedicated to high-quality vintage cars and motorcycles, while the lower dock of the San Marco Tower will host the Concorso d'Eleganza for vintage boats. Meanwhile, the airspace above will witness the flyovers of vintage airplanes and seaplanes.

Therefore, what is set to happen at the end of April 2024 promises to be a particularly significant event entirely dedicated to the history and culture of historic motoring, in line with the noblest practice of our beautiful passion.
